Morning time is the precious time of the day, and when it is used in the right way, it can bring great levels of success in one’s life. The way we start our day and the things we do in the first few hours of our morning time determine the quality of our entire day. If we start our day with hurry and chaos, the same tone is carried throughout the day, and our day turns out chaotic and hurried. If we start our morning feeling lethargic, we feel lethargic in our work. If our morning starts with reading bad news and feeling fearful and anxious, we feel the same more or less throughout our day.

Many of us feel there is no time in life because we start our day thinking the same. We start our day in a hurry and rush, and that’s how our entire day and eventually our life becomes. It is said that people who can control their morning time can control their life. If we want to be supercharged and efficient throughout the day, we should take care of our mornings. The secret of success in life lies in the way we handle our mornings.

So, how do successful people start their mornings? What do they do in their morning time? What morning rituals do they have? Surprisingly, many of the highly successful people have similar morning habits. Here are the seven things successful people do in the morning time.

7 things successful people do in the morning time:

1. Wake up early: They wake up early, even before 6 AM. Waking up early has several benefits. Morning time is free from distractions and gives you the time to focus on things that matter to you. It gives control over one’s time. When you wake up late, you are controlled by time, and demands and situations around you dictate your day. But when you wake up early, you are in charge, and you can direct your day the way you want. Having control over one’s time in the day is a great freedom and a must if one wants to achieve big things in life. So, waking up early is a habit many successful people follow across the world. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, wakes up at 4 AM.

2. Exercise: Many successful people exercise in the mornings. Exercise not only recharges our body and keeps it healthy but also improves creativity and sharpens our mind. It releases the stress from our body. It releases feel-good hormones in our body, which take us into a happy emotional and mental state. Exercise is non-negotiable for a healthy and productive life. Starting our day on a happy and energetic note helps us carry the same vibes into your work and our day. To be successful in life, one needs high levels of energy, and this comes from exercising. Barack Obama, the former President of the US, makes it a point to exercise before he starts off his day.

3. Plan: They plan their day and prioritise the tasks right when they are fresh in the morning and full of energy. The time spent in planning helps you cut down wastage of time in the day and boosts your productivity. Many of us feel a lack of time in our life because we don’t plan our day, and we don’t prioritise our tasks. Planning makes your life easy and smooth. Predictability of the day lowers down the stress and helps you make the most out of your day. An unplanned day brings several random tasks and causes chaos and hurry in the day. So, it is important to plan our day. Tony Robbins, the world’s influential motivational speaker, writer, and coach, spends 10 minutes of his morning time in visualising his entire day.

4. Meditate: Meditation is an excellent tool to de-stress and to tap into the creative juices of the Universe. To be successful in life, one needs clarity of thinking, sharp mind, creativity, emotional strength, and concentration. Meditation gives all these benefits. So, many successful people meditate before they start their day. Just a few minutes of meditation can clear your mind and take you into a peaceful state. Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, starts his day with a dose of meditation and highly endorses meditation to his employees and clients.

5. Eat healthy breakfast: The food we eat is the fuel for our body, and it determines our performance in a day. If we start our day with an unhealthy breakfast or skip our breakfast due to the time crunch, it is tough to stay in a good mood and energetic state. Unhealthy breakfast saps our energies and makes us lethargic and moody. Starting our day with lethargy is definitely not helpful if we want to achieve things in life. So, starting our day with a healthy breakfast that is full of nutrients is important. Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin group, eats fruits and muesli, for his breakfast.

6. Read something positive: They start their day by reading something positive. When we start our day reading positive stuff, it sets the tone of our day as positive. Reading expands our thinking and brings in new ideas. It inspires us to give our best to life and prepares us for the challenges of the day. So, it’s a good idea to read motivational and inspirational literature during the mornings.

7. Achieve something important: Successful people start their day by doing something important and complex right in the morning time. When such a complex task is accomplished in the first few hours of the day, it gives great confidence and makes the day easy. It also prevents postponement attitude and gives the inspiration to achieve more. Success brings more success.

These are the seven things successful people do in their mornings. Our success in life is built one morning at a time. Take charge of your mornings and take charge of your success.

“How you wake up each day and your morning routine (or lack thereof) dramatically affects your levels of success in every single area of your life. Focused, productive, successful mornings generate focused, productive, successful days – which inevitably create a successful life – in the same way, that unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre mornings generate unfocused, unproductive, and mediocre days, and ultimately a mediocre quality of life. By simply changing the way you wake up in the morning, you can transform any area of your life, faster than you ever thought possible.” – Hal Elrod, the author of ‘The miracle morning.’

Happy morning!
